December

The days are growing shorter - and colder. Already at a little past 5:00 p.m. I can see a golden sunset through the west windows.

This afternoon, with th e temperature up to 52 degrees, it was too nice not to take a walk again. The colors along the trail are all muted now, and the trees bare. I wonder when I'll walk that way again?

The picture isn't along our trail, though. If you notice the mountain peaks in the background you know it isn't in Nebraska! In November I spent a delightful week with my family in Arizona. So many things in that week are highlighted in memory! The time spent reading to two of my grandchildren; visits with them; a walk with Tim; french-braiding Victoria's hair; seeing others I hadn't expected to get to see - including Matt and Mandy and two darling little great-grands! And those things were only part of the treasure! The meetings on Sunday and on Wednesday night were especially memorable.

My favorite walking trail there beside the canal leads to a bird park. I missed what would have been a really GOOD picture by not having my camara with me. The one above is minus the birds that were there on that other day.

Before I went to Arizona, it was so nice to have a few days in Sidney (Nebraska) with married granddaughters and three little great-grands. Now I'd like to have a few days there again......but not sure there will be time to do that.

December is Special Meeting month here in Nebraska. We've enjoyed ours in Kearney already, and look forward hopefully to two others in the weeks ahead.

And after that? You've asked if there are any trips coming up.....and YES there is. I'll be going to Argentina the end of this month. It has taken a bit to get my sight re-adjusted from the Russian lands in the north to turn SOUTH again! It will be the beginning of Summer there. Missing a Nebraska winter will be alright, though I don't much look forward to the hot weather!

So - if all goes as planned, my next post will be from the Southern Hemisphere!

dear Mother Bird,

So the Eagle is preparing to take flight again. South this time. Well, it is always an adventure to look forward to, and for us back at home it is always wonderful to hear from you about it!

And I write--it just takes more priming the pump....
Glad you got a few pictures, they're so clear!

We'll make sure to tell you how cold it is up here, so you will feel cooler on the hot days!
